Job description

RIFT develops and realises Iron Fuel projects for industrial heat, combining our own Iron Fuel Boiler technology with long-term iron fuel supply. As we move from technology development towards commercial application, conversations with industrial customers become increasingly concrete and decisive.

As a Business Development Representative, you focus on the first phase of these trajectories. You initiate contact with industrial companies, explore their heat demand and assess whether there is a solid technical and commercial basis to continue the conversation. You work as part of the Project Development team, closely aligned with senior colleagues who take promising opportunities further into detailed project development.

What you do as a Business Development Representative

  • You identify relevant industrial companies and initiate first contact via phone, email, LinkedIn and other prospecting tools.

  • You determine who the right stakeholders are within organisations and adapt your approach and messaging accordingly.

  • You explore heat demand and decarbonisation ambitions and assess whether there is a meaningful technical and commercial match.

  • You qualify leads at a high level and ensure promising opportunities are well prepared for further deepening.

  • You collaborate with senior colleagues within Project Development when preparing follow-up conversations.

  • You work with clear targets, keep your activities and contacts up to date in the CRM system (HubSpot), and share market insights with the team.

Job requirements

What you bring

  • You are curious and know how to ask the right (follow-up) questions to understand how organisations work and why people make certain decisions.

  • You are comfortable initiating contact with new prospects and get energy from outbound outreach.

  • You can listen, summarise and probe, and make conversations relevant and substantive.

  • You have an affinity with technology and industry and enjoy translating technical topics into clear, meaningful questions.

  • You like working with clear goals and see it as natural that commercial progress is measurable.

  • You communicate clearly and professionally in both Dutch and English.

  • You have around one year of experience in a commercial or client-facing role (although an eagerness to learn matters more).

  • You keep overview, follow up on agreements and make sure opportunities do not get lost.
