Hands-on technical responsibility for a new experimental Iron Fuel production installation

Job description

RIFT develops Iron Fuel Technology for fossil free industrial heat. The Iron Fuel Production technology focuses on one part of the circular technology: regenerating rust powder into iron powder so that the fuel can be reused.

Alongside our industrial pilot in Arnhem, we are building an experimental test installation on the TU/e campus. Here, we investigate and validate crucial process parameters that are critical for further scale up.

As a Test Engineer, you are technically responsible for this set-up. You work directly at the core of the technology and see how your analyses and improvements contribute to the development of our production installations.

What you do as a Test Engineer

  • You are technically responsible for the experimental test installation on the TU/e campus. You safeguard the operation, performance and safety of the installation.

  • You support the construction and commissioning phase and independently and systematically resolve technical issues.

  • You develop test plans to investigate and validate process parameters within the regeneration process.

  • You execute experiments, ensure measurement quality and secure reliable and reproducible data.

  • You analyse results and translate insights into concrete improvements to the installation and process.

  • You align findings with the team of the industrial pilot in Arnhem so that insights contribute to further scale up.

Job requirements

What you bring

  • You take ownership of the installation and feel responsible for performance, reliability and safety.

  • You work analytically and in a structured way and can translate measurement data into clear technical conclusions.

  • You are practically minded and approach technical problems independently and step by step.

  • You communicate clearly and factually about results, assumptions and improvement points.

  • You enjoy working in a small, multidisciplinary team and are open to feedback.

  • You have a completed HBO degree in a technical field and preferably several years of experience in a test, production or R&D environment.

What you can expect from us

  • A technical role with responsibility for your own experimental installation, with direct involvement in the development of our production technology and insight into how your work contributes to the industrial pilot in Arnhem.

  • Close collaboration with experienced engineers and researchers, enabling you to grow quickly in technical depth.

  • A place where you can grow in technical responsibility and expertise. Within the team, colleagues have started in junior roles and progressed to project responsible positions.

  • An environment where technical quality, safety and well founded decision making are central.

  • An informal team that works closely together, supports each other’s development and also makes time for activities outside of work.

At RIFT, we develop technology that concretely contributes to the energy transition, with the ambition to bring it to commercial application within the coming years. We do this with a team that takes responsibility and builds together. In this role, you will work directly on the installation, execute tests and improve the technology step by step. Do you want to work close to the technology and visibly contribute to what we are building? Then we invite you to apply.

We prefer to solve technical challenges ourselves. Filling this vacancy is one of them.
